as i recall in the 1980s talks and watchtower literature, magazines and books were always talking about the "generation" teaching and how it proved armageddon was going to come any day now.. but am i correct in thinking they have only actually mentioned the new "overlapping generations" teaching once or twice in the literature?
why are they so shy about talking about their great new interpretation?
it's almost enough to make you suspect they are a embarrassed about it.. mention it once or twice, don't dwell on it, hope everyone just accepts it, and don't bring it up again.
They don’t mention a lot of things anymore, if they say it, you got it and move on; don’t dwell or linger, that’s what gets them in trouble.
@George: Simplified is going too easy on them, they've become downright stoopified.
The meat-ings, light-brite and noo litera-turd don't go very deep anymore, which is funny because they always tell us to look into the deep things of God, er wash-towel. The truth is they know the septic tanks about to blow and anyone going to check on it had better be in a hazmat suit and tread lightly. This is why they stoopify things so you can understand their meanings without any extracurricular study; that way you don’t unsuspectingly go “outside” and find all the s**t below the landscaping.
happiest people in the world?
consider my own family.
i have jw relatives who gave up everything, moved to where the need was greater and they have never been happy.. they've been constantly in poor health, suffered with depression and had feuds within their own jw family.
In all honesty I can't say I've met a truly happy witless.
Who can be content with a group that demands love? (Love isn’t love if it isn’t genuine.)
Who can be happy in an organization that blames the members for everything because they are inappreciative good for nothing slaves? (You’re damned if you do and you’re damned if you don’t.)
it seems to me it's only a matter of time before google+ takes over from facebook as the most popular social network.. a few jws i know have invited me to their google+ circles, or whatever you call it, in the last few weeks.
maybe they are more relaxed about using this network because it has not been condemned at the meetings the same way facebook has.. it occurs to me that the watchtower might be less likely to actually name google+ as forbidden fruit purely because they are confused about the name (i'm a bit confused about the name) and it they start condemning google they might sound like they mean to stop people using the search engine and just sound a bit daft.. so is this a social network that jws can take part in with impunity?.
They will attack anything that connects witlesses to the outside world.
Egad! You might learn something they don't want you to know!
They try to control all incoming and outgoing information and cannot if you insist on taking matters in your own hands by connecting to others and looking at some of that (gasp) free (gasp) truthful information.
i asked:.
who is jehovah?.
answer: that's a topic for another day and another assistant!.
1 - Be nice
2 - Be healthy
3 - Be equal
Why don't witlesses understand these simple points are the point?
I mean sheesh, even an iPhone gets it!
i can't go into details but basically having been off the jw radar for years i'm now firmly back on it.
just recently it feels like i can't move without a jw being in the way!
they are trying a tactic with me which i've seen done many many times when i was a jw myself.
This permafrost niceness is not just a manipulative tactic. They always make sure they have an advantageous out, no matter how YOU proceed.
As you said, "they had a "nice friendly conversation" with me, its related in a tone of extreme hopefulness. When i'm unfriendly to them it gets related back as " i was only trying to be friendly but she was so rude!" Its all very very clever."
This way no matter how the conversation/contact goes they can either take credit for "helping" you or not be blamed for your apostate rudeness.
They don’t care if it was the most painful conversation you’ve ever had, in their mind it's a win win.
well it's that time of year again and the invitations to another pointless memorial aka reject jesus party is now in full swing.
even though it's only the first day i'm already more than sick of it!
this is the first year i am fully mentally awake for the memorial season, and honestly i'm so sick of it all!
I both loathe and love this fake work.
I hate that it's such a pretentious way of trying to manipulate/guilt people; bait (for Jesus) and switch (not really we just want to convert you).
On the other hand.
I love it because if you are still "in" for one reason or another it's a great way to get in some easy service time to save face. Think about it, they do these campaigns two or three times a year, so by the time the anyone starts buggin you to do more, you can just fake some zeal during one of these campaigns and get them off your back. Works every time!
the watchtower of january 1st, 2010 p. 22-23 pretends that "all who respond favorably to gods warning and bring their life into harmony with his righteous principles (meaning jehovah's witnesses) will be granted salvation and enjoy everlasting life on a paradise earth.".
but is it true?.
astrophysicists say that like other stars of its type, our sun will become a planet-engulfing red giant.

in another thread, i made the statement that the bible seems obsessed with numbers, particularly 7,12, and 40.. the perfect example is while it sometimes lists different tribes of israel names the count is always twelve.. http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/contra/tribes.html.
what were the twelve (or thirteen) tribes of israel?

Christendom/Christians believe the contemporary Bible is true.
They listen to this “inspired” book when it says only turn to God.
However the problem is the “inspired” book uses a form of numerology to tell you this.
Sooo, if God hates divining, why does HE use a form of divination?
Even hard-core Christians have a hard time skirting around this “little” problem.

15. what goal should a young christian have while he is in school?.
Don't you see there's no need to plan ahead.
If you imitate Jesus you'll die by age 35.
Problem solved!
